With a 137-96 loss to the Grizzlies on Thursday, the Kings’ season is quickly starting to slip. Sacramento is 1-9 in its last 10 games and has lost eight straight.
The Kings are 3-13 to begin the 2025-26 season, currently 14th of 15 teams in the Western Conference. To make matters worse, the team recently lost one of its key players due to injury. On Sunday, November 16, Domanatas Sabonis suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee. NBA insiders reported that the veteran PF will miss three to four weeks. Who will step up for the Kings while Sabonis is sidelined with a knee injury?

Twenty-nine-year-old Domantas Sabonis is playing his 10th season in the NBA and his fifth with the Kings. He’s started all 257 games he’s appeared in for Sacramento. Over his career, Domantas Sabonis has been a rebounding machine. From 2022-23 to 2024-25, Sabonis led the NBA in rebounds per game. To start the 2025=26 season, his 12.3 rebounds per game are fourth in the NBA.
This past Sunday, Kings all-star PF Domanatas Sabonis suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee. Sabois is set to miss three to four weeks before he is re-evaluated. That is unfortunate news for the Kings, who are 1-9 in their last 10 games. However, head coach Doug Christe will need players in the front court to increase their production. That includes Precious Achiuwa and Drew Eubanks.

Achiuwa and Eubanks have started each of the Kings’ last two games since Sabonis went down. Sacramento saw a flaring need for help in the front court early in the year. The team signed Precious Achiuwa to a one-year, $2.45 million deal. He’s played in nine games for the Kings and made six starts. Achiuwa is averaging 18.7 minutes per game for Sacramento. Against the Thunder on Wednesday, Precious Achiuwa scored a season-high 15 points.
With Domantas Sabonis out, his role will continue to increase. The same can be said for center Drew Eubanks. He’s played in all 16 games for the Kings this season and has made five starts. Eubanks is in his eighth professional season and first with the Kings. The 28-year-old is a veteran big man who can give the Kings the production they need. The team is already 3-13 and has lost eight straight. Sacramento is on the road Saturday to face the Nuggets.
