Washington Capitals left winger Alexander Ovechkin of Moscow, Russia has moved into fourth all-time on the National Hockey League hat trick list. Ovechkin now has 33 NHL hat tricks, which is tied with Brett Hull. He accomplished the feat in an 8-4 Capitals win over the Montreal Canadiens at Montreal’s Bell Centre on Thursday.

Wayne Gretzky of Brantford, Ontario has the NHL record for the most hat tricks ever with 50. Ovechkin then put the Canadiens up 7-4 from defenseman John Carlson of Natick, Massachusetts with two minutes and four seconds left in the third period into an empty net.
