Grizzlies Injury Report: Who Steps Up For Memphis With Ty Jerome Set To Miss Another 6-9 Weeks?

After a stretch of going 1-9 in 10 games, the Grizzlies have rattled off two consecutive wins. Memphis has a 6-11 record through its first 17 games of the 2025-26 season.

On Saturday evening, the Grizzlies beat the Mavericks, 102-96. This offseason, the team signed Ty Jerome to a three-year, $28 million deal. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old has yet to suit up this season due to a calf injury. Over the weekend, Memphis updated fans on Jerome’s recovery timeline. While the team said he is “progressing well”, Ty Jerome will not return for another six to nine weeks for the Girzzlies.

Fans will have to patiently wait for Ty Jerome to make his Memphis Grizzlies debut

With the 24th pick in the 2019 NBA draft, the Sixers selected Ty Jerome out of Virginia. The team traded Jerome to the Suns on draft night, and that is where his career began. After bouncing around the league, Jerome landed with Cleveland in 2023-24. However, he only played two games that season due to a severe ankle injury. Ty Jerome bounced back in 2024-25 and played a sixth-man role for the Cavaliers. After his strong performance, Jerome left in free agency and signed a contract with the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies had a game vs. the Heat on October 17. It was one of Memphis’ final preseason contests. Ty Jerome suffered a “high-grade” right calf strain. At the time, Memphis said it would re-evaluate Jerome in four weeks. Over the weekend, fans got an update on Jerome’s recovery timeline. The team reported that Ty Jerome is set to miss at least six to nine more weeks due to his lingering calf strain. Not ideal for Memphis.

Head coach Tuomas Iisalo has been operating without Ty Jerome to begin the year. He’ll continue to do that for at least the next month and a half. Iisalo has used 10 different starters for the Grizzlies so far in 2025-26. Due to injuries, he’s had to use a variety of players. Ty Jerome plays PG, but the team has been without his services. That’s allowed Cam Spencer and Vince Williams to see extended playing time for the Grizzlies.

Cam Spencer’s 19.5 minutes per game is a new career-high for the second-year pro. The former second-round pick is shooting an impressive .425% from beyond the arc to begin the year. Spencer is averaging 4.7 three-point attempts per game. He’s played in all 17 games and has made one start. Vince Williams is seeing 20.9 minutes per game for Memphis this season. Williams has played in 12 of the team’s 17 games and has made four starts. Not only is Ty Jerome out, but starting PG Ja Morant is out two weeks due to a calf strain.
