Everyone’s favorite talking mammals return in Zootopia 2. The animated sequel should dominate the Thanksgiving box office, but will it have a historic 5-day opening weekend?
What is Zootopia 2 About?
Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) return for another adventure in Zootopia 2.
After solving the case in the first film, Judy and Nick are now partners in the Zootopia Police Department (ZPD). Despite being friends, Judy and Nick are not compatible partners.
To fix their relationship, Chief Bogo (Idris Elba) orders the duo to join the Partners in Crisis counseling program.
“But it doesn’t take long for their partnership to be put to the ultimate test when they find themselves on the twisting trail of a mystery tied to the arrival of a venomous snake in the animal metropolis,” the official synopsis reads.
New voices in the cast are Ke Huy Quan as Gary De’Snake, Fortune Feimster as Nibbles, and Quinta Brunson as quokka therapist Dr. Fuzzby.

Jared Bush and Byron Howard direct Zootopia 2 from a screenplay by Bush.
Disney will release Zootopia 2 in theaters on November 26, 2025.

Unlike most 3-day weekends, the Thanksgiving holiday is a five-day weekend at the box office.
Polymarket lists a 5-day total north of $157 million (-213) as the likeliest scenario.
However, tracking estimates are taking a more conservative approach, predicting Zootopia 2 will open between $135 million and $150 million.
The Thanksgiving holiday has been profitable for Disney animation. Moana 2 holds the record for the biggest five-day Thanksgiving opening weekend at $225 million.
Frozen II also did well with a $125 million haul over five days.
The biggest competition Zootopia 2 will face comes from the second weekend of Wicked: For Good, which is expected to gross $100 million over the holiday.
Update: Zootopia 2 overperformed, opening to $158 million.
