The Colorado Avalanche currently have a 10 game winning streak. That is tied for the second longest winning streak in Avalanche franchise history. The only longer winning streak they have had were 12 games during the 1998-99 NHL season. Let’s take an indepth look at the streak.
When was Colorado’s last loss?
Colorado has not lost since they were beaten in overtime by a score of 3-2 to the San Jose Sharks on November 1. Since then, the Avalanche have won 10 straight games. In that time, the Avalanche have scored 47 times and given up 15 goals. They have beaten Tampa Bay 3-2 on November 4, Edmonton 9-1 on November 8, Vancouver 5-4 in overtime on November 9, Anaheim 4-1 on November 11, Buffalo 6-3 on November 13, the New York Islanders 4-1 on November 16, and the New York Rangers 6-3 on November 20.

What is eye popping during the streak is the fact that the Avalanche have won their last three games via shutout. Mackenzie Blackwood of Thunder Bay, Ontario has had two shutouts in that time, and Scott Wedgewood of Brampton, Ontario has one shutout. Blackwood blanked the Nashville Predators on Saturday by making 35 saves, and then blanked the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday, by making 26 saves in a 6-0 Avalanche win. Wedgewood’s shutout during the streak came on Sunday in a 1-0 Colorado win over the Chicago Blackhawks where he made 22 saves. The Avalanche have now gone 189 minutes and 17 seconds without giving up a single goal.
The NHL record for the longest streak without a goal was 460 minutes and 49 seconds. During the 1927-28 season, Alec Connell of Ottawa, Ontario had a shutout in six consecutive games for the original Ottawa Senators. What was remarkable during the streak is that the Senators only won half of the six games as three of the games ended in 0-0 ties.

The Avalanche center, who won the Hart Trophy in 2024, has proven to the hockey world why he is possibly the best player in the game today. In the last 10 games, MacKinnon has eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points. He is a +16 with four penalty minutes, seven power-play points, one game-winning goal, 44 shots on goal, 92 faceoff wins, seven blocked shots, five hits, three takeaways, and 12 giveaways.
Best record in the NHL
The Avalanche are number one in the entire National Hockey League at the moment. What is amazing about their overall record, is the fact that they one have one regulation loss.
