Boogie Cousins ‘Not Shocked’ That Giannis Antetokounmpo Wants a Trade

ESPN’s Shams Charania shared breaking news on Wednesday regarding Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo. There had been reports in the past that Giannis thought about leaving the Bucks.

Charania’s story on Wednesday only fueled speculation about his future with Milwaukee. Many media members around the league believe Giannis is on his way out. That includes Fan Duel TV’s DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins. Antetokounmpo and Cousins were teammates for 17 games late in Cousins’ career. Recently, Boogie said he is “not shocked” Giannis is asking for a trade.

Can the Bucks do anything to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo on the roster?

Giannis Antetokounmpo is in his 13th season with the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s a two-time NBA MVP, one-time NBA champion, and a nine-time all-star. The 30-year-old helped Milwaukee end its 50-year championship drought. Antetokounmpo is a walking Hall of Famer and is still one of the most dominant players in the league. On Wednesday, Shams Charania reported that Giannis is having serious discussions about his future with the Bucks.

His former teammate, Boogie Cousins, is “not shocked” by this. On Fan Duel TV’s Run It Back, Cousins explained how Giannis and the Bucks are not on the same page. While Antetokounmpo might be on his way out, Cousins doesn’t believe it “will be a messy breakup.” He detailed how Giannis has been with the same team for his entire career. He’s shown loyalty to Milwaukee, and they’ve done the same for him.

However, signs point to Giannis Antetokounmpo parting ways with the Bucks. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said that Giannis first became frustrated with the Bucks when they waived Damian Lillard. Antetokounmpo questioned the move by Milwaukee. Lillard was a key piece on the roster to keep Milwaukee contending in the East. When that happened, Milwaukee and New York reportedly discussed sending Giannis to the Knicks.

That trade never happened, and the 30-year-old started the 2025-26 season with Milwaukee. Shams Charania reported on Wednesday that several teams will be in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes this time around. The Bucks have just over two months to trade Giannis before the deadline on February 5. With the latest reports, chances are Giannis is not a member of the Bucks’ roster at that time.
