Amid all this, NBA insiders have shared a report about the Clippers’ President of Basketball Operations, Lawrence Frank. Jo Vardon of The Athletic shared that Frank is expected to sign a contract extension with LA.

Lawrence Frank has been a member of the LA Clippers’ front office since the 2016-17 season. In 2017-18, he was promoted to President of Basketball Operations. Frank has been with the team for 10 total seasons. Back in 2020, Lawrence Frank was named Executive of the Year. Entering the 2025-26 season, Frank helped construct the oldest roster in the NBA. Through 22 games, the returns have not been promising.
On Wednesday, December 4, the Clippers sent shockwaves through the NBA. In a season when it was supposed to be his farewell tour, LA cut its ties with Chris Paul. Despite that shakeup to the roster, the front office is in lock step, according to NBA insider Joe Varon. He reported that Lawrence Frank is in line to receive a contract extension from the Clippers.

One source told Vardon that his extension has “been in the planning stages for a while.” It is only a matter of time until Frank and his associates are extended by the team. Additionally, Joe Vardon mentioned the ownership’s “commitment to continuity.” Lawrence Frank is part of that plan.
The 2025-26 season has been a constant battle for the Clippers early on. Los Angeles is being investigated by the NBA for allegedly circumventing the salary cap. This was done through a sponsorship arrangement with Kawhi Leonard and former team sponsor Aspiration.
On top of this, Bradley Beal suffered a season-ending injury after playing just six games. Los Angeles doesn’t own their first-round pick in 2026. Regardless of what has transpired, the Clippers remain committed to Lawrence Frank.
