Tyrese Maxey and the 76ers were at home on Thursday evening to face the Warriors. It was the first of two meetings this season between Philadelphia and Golden State.
The Warriors were down 80-66 at the start of the fourth quarter but made a comeback. Tyrese Maxey missed a jump shot, but VJ Edgecombe cleaned up the miss for an important bucket. Golden State tried hitting a quick full-court pass to DeAnthony Melton. Luckily, Tyrese Maxey hustled back on defense and made a game-winning block. In the win on Thursday, Tyrese Maxey made franchise history. He is the sixth player with three consecutive 35+ point games.

With the 21st pick in the 2021 NBA draft, the 76ers selected Tyrese Maxey out of Kentucky. In each passing season with the Sixers, Maxey has continued to increase his production. His 32.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game in 2025-26 are all new career-highs. With Joel Embiid taking a step back in his overall productivity and effectiveness, Tyrese Maxey is now the center of attention for the 76ers.
On Thursday, Tyrese Maxey finished with 35 points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a game-winning block. That was the third consecutive game that Tyrese Maxey scored 35+ points for the Sixers. He is now the sixth player in franchise history to accomplish that feat. Maxey joins Wilt Chamberlain, Julius Erving, Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, and Joel Embiid.

Tyrese Maxey is known for his offensive talent; however, the 25-year-old is continuing to improve as a defender. When Maxey entered the league, he was undersized. Over time, Maxey had added muscle to his frame, and it has benefited him greatly. That’s allowed him to become a legitimate two-way threat for the Sixers.
We saw that come into full effect on Thursday. After VJ Edgecombe’s putback, the Warriors were down to zero timeouts. Buddy Hield quickly grabbed the ball and launched a full-court pass to DeAnthony Melton. He caught the pass on one bounce and went up for a layup to win the game. Sixers’ Tyrese Maxey came flying out of the air to swat the ball off the backboard. That won the game for Philadelphia. The team is now 12-9 in 2025-26. Led by the heroics of Tyrese Maxey.
