Bucks Trade Rumors: Who Has The Largest Tradeable Contract After Giannis Antetokounmpo?

Through their first 25 games of the season, the Bucks are 10-15. That is 10th in the Eastern Conference. Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently out for several weeks due to a calf strain.Β

Last week, NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Antetokounmpo and his agent are having an open dialogue with the Bucks. The two parties are discussing the next step for Giannis’ future. Milwaukee parting ways with Antetokounmpo in the future seems likely. After Giannis, who has the largest tradeable contract on the Bucks’ roster?

Besides their superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who could Milwaukee trade?

Joe Horst is the general manager of the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s responsible for building the championship roster in 2021. Since that season, the Bucks have continuously fallen short of making a deep playoff run. During the offseason, Horst waived and stretched Damian Lillard’s remaining contract.

The veteran PG signed with the Trail Blazers upon his release. Additionally, Milwaukee signed big man Myles Turner in free agency. This was seen as an “all-in” move by Horst to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo satisfied.

Through various trades they’ve made over the years to keep Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee, the Bucks lack draft capital. According to Shams Charania, the team has one first-round pick available for trade. The Bucks are in a tough spot. Joe Horst could be forced to hit the reset button and trade Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2025-26.

Shams Charania noted that Milwaukee has two-to-three tradeable contracts outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo. That includes Myles Turner, Bobby Portis Jr., and Kyle Kuzma. Turner just signed with the Bucks this offseason to a four-year, $108 million deal. If Joe Horst wants to hit a full rebuild, Turner could potentially be moved.

Another player with a tradeable contract for the Bucks is Bobby Portis. The 30-year-old is in his 11th professional season and sixth with the Bucks. Portis is on a three-year, $41 million deal for Milwaukee. That’s a contract that could easily be moved in a trade. Additionally, Kyle Kuzma is signed to a two-year, $40.7 million deal.

Slightly less favorable than Portis’ contract, but Milwaukee could find a trade partner for Kuzma. Giannis Antetokounmpo’s decision will seal the fate of his teammates moving forward. Will the two-time MVP officially request a trade?
