Serena Williams greets fans after her last career match, losing to Ajla Tomljanovic at the 2022 U.S. Open

American tennis legend Serena Williams is not doing much to quell the comeback rumors that have been circling around her for the past 10 days.

Last week, it was reported that Serena’s name is once again on the list for the anti-doping testing pool. Though she did not explain why her name suddenly reappeared on the list when she is currently retired, Williams did say she is not coming back.

Before playing last week’s Charlotte exhibition against Madison Keys, Venus Williams was asked about her little sister’s plans. Venus brilliantly deflected the talk by joking that she can’t get Serena to practice with her.

Chris Eubanks, who recently retired and is now firmly entrenched in tennis media, shared a plausible theory that Serena is testing the waters of a comeback and probably did not realize her name would be released as being on that list.

Williams, 44, still plays tennis and recently lost a considerable amount of weight while acting as a spokesperson for a weight loss injectable.

Now Williams is fueling even more speculation with a recent social media post.

What Serena Williams Said

Serena posted: “Feeling strongly about claiming my mojo back.”

This is a very vague statement that could mean anything related to tennis or everyday life. However, coupled with the recent events and news, it does imply that fans could see Serena competing in professional tennis sometime in 2026.

What that looks like, in singles, doubles with Venus, or even mixed doubles, remains to be seen.

Legends are always welcomed back, and fans cannot wait to see what happens with Serena in 2026. A return could postpone her International Tennis Hall of Fame induction which would be a slam dunk in her first year of eligibility in 2027.

If Philip Rivers can come back to professional football at 44, why couldn’t Serena come back to tennis?
