The Sacramento Kings figure to be one of the busiest teams in the NBA ahead of the trade deadline. They have some high-priced pieces that they are likely to move, given their struggles over the first 6 weeks of the season, and one of those players is Domantas Sabonis.
2 NBA Teams Have Been Mentioned In Domantas Sabonis Trade Talks
Sabonis has been in Sacramento since 2022. He is the reigning rebound champion three times over, is a three-time All-Star, and was a key piece in the Kings efforts to qualify for the postseason for the first time in 17 years in 2023. And while he is still productive on the court, there are multiple reasons why he is being mentioned in trade talks.
Where might he end up? Since Sabonis’ name began popping up in rumors, there have only been a couple of teams that have been reported as possible destinations.

Golden State Warriors
Golden State has long struggled to find a true, impactful center who can anchor their front court on both ends. Their current rotation includes guys like Al Horford, Quinten Post, and of course Draymond Green, and the Warriors should be looking to upgrade if they want to keep their chances of a postseason run alive. Looking for a consistent interior presence that can score, rebound, and facilitate at a high level should be a top priority, and Sabonis fits that mold.
With elite pick-and-roll play making, reliable scoring from the post, and excellent rebounding, Sabonis would complement Warriors’ stars Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler by creating another hub for offense. There are defensive concerns that always follow Sabonis, but a defensive-minded squad like Golden State could be the best possible NBA team to be able to mask his deficiencies.
There were trade talks over the summer between the Kings and Warriors, but Domantas Sabonis wasn’t a reported piece. But Sacramento is apparently still interested in Jonathan Kuminga, and discussions could heat up over the next few of weeks.

Chicago Bulls
One team that is likely looking to upgrade their center spot is the Chicago Bulls. They currently have Nikola Vučević as their primary big, but league chatter (and trade proposals around the rumor mill) has explicitly floated Sabonis as a potential All-Star center target for the franchise.
With Vučević’s contract being viewed as trade-friendly and Chicago possessing several expiring deals and future picks, the team may pursue an upgrade like Sabonis rather than sticking with the veteran Vucevic. Such a move would be a statement that the franchise still intends to build around Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis while adding proven production inside.
The Bulls are young, with 4 of their 5 starters under 27 years old, with Vučević being the odd man out. Sabonis isn’t that young, but he fits more with Chicago’s timeline, and their available cap space and assets makes them one of the few teams with enough flexibility to absorb Sabonis’ sizable contract.
