Toronto got back in the win column on Monday with a 106-96 win vs. the Heat. That snapped a four-game losing streak for the Raptors.
In 2025-26, the Raptors have played 17 games and have a 16-11 record. As of Tuesday, December 16, Toronto is third in the Eastern Conference. The next month and a half will be a pivotal time for the franchise. NBA insider Jake Fischer reported the Raptors are interested in Anthony Davis and Domantas Sabonis. The only way Toronto will make a trade is if the team is in playoff contention.

As it stands, the Raptors are contenders in the East. However, the team has been struggling as of late. Toronto is 4-6 in their last 10 and 2-6 in their last eight. Still, the Raptors are 16-11 in 2025-26. Through trades and the draft, Toronto has built a strong roster. They are led by all-stars on the roster like Brandon Ingram and Scottie Barnes. Additionally, Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett play large roles for the Raptors.
Recently, NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that the team is willing to conduct business ahead of the deadline. Two players the Raptors are monitoring are Anthony Davis and Domantas Sabonis. Let’s start with Davis. The 32-year-old is in his first full season with the Mavericks. He was acquired by Dallas at the 2024-25 trade deadline after the team sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers.

Trading for Anthony Davis would be an all-in move for the Raptors. He is on the books for $54.1 million in 2025-26. If acquired by Toronto, they would then owe Davis that salary. Additionally, players like Jakob Poeltl, RJ Barrett, and Collin Murray-Boyles would be swapped for salary purposes. Toronto is also showing interest in Kings PF Domantas Sabonis.
The 29-year-old has started 11 of 26 games this season. He’s missed the last 12 straight games due to a knee injury. On November 20, it was reported that Sabonis would be reevaluated in three to four weeks. Sabonis is in his 10th professional season and fifth with the Kings. He is a double-double machine who could add a veteran presence to the Raptors’ front court. The next month and a half will be telling for the future of the Raptors’ roster.
