The 2025 NFL season was a major turning point for Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and not in a good way. Once the centerpiece of the Miami Dolphins’ offense and a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback, Tagovailoa has struggled through his worst professional season, and now his future with the franchise is in serious doubt.
Browns, Jets Favored To Be Tua Tagovailoa’s Next Team
Miami’s decision to bench Tagovailoa in favor of rookie Quinn Ewers late in the season was the most glaring sign yet that this chapter may be closing. Tagovailoa entered Week 16 as the NFL’s leader in interceptions, and has seemingly lost any of the redeeming qualities that made him the league’s leading passer just a couple of seasons ago.

And now that he’s been replaced as the team’s starter, there are major questions looming about his future with the Dolphins.
According to the oddsmakers at BetOnline, there are a handful of AFC teams that are strong suitors. And the team with the shortest designation is the Cleveland Browns, who come in leading the pack at +200.
Cleveland’s quarterback situation has been messy in 2025. After starting Joe Flacco for the first four games before trading him, it has been two rookie signal callers who have been under center, with Shedeur Sanders getting the late-season starts. It is still unclear if the Browns believe that their QB of the future is currently on their roster, and they could be looking to address the position yet again this coming offseason.
Chiefs, Raiders Also Near The Top Of The List
One of Miami’s division rivals has short Tagovailoa odds, too. The New York Jets are in a full rebuild after shipping off some of their top players, and are in desperate need of a quarterback. They have valuable draft capital in each of the next two years, and may wait a year to select their young prospect from 2027’s draft class.

That would mean a stop-gap quarterback would be a need, and someone of Tagovailoa’s pedigree could make for an interesting fit.
Behind those two teams in the odds board sit the Chiefs (+400), Raiders (+500), and Colts (+600), suggesting a range of potential fits across the league.
Should the Dolphins move on from Tagovailoa this offseason, it won’t be without financial pain. Miami is on the hook for a significant portion of his remaining contract, nearly $54 million guaranteed next season, which complicates both release and trade scenarios.
