Sidney Crosby looking on before a game

Sidney Crosby will be going to the Hockey Hall of Fame as soon as he is eligible when his remarkable career comes to an end. He has been arguably the greatest hockey player over the last two decades, and on Sunday made Pittsburgh Penguins history. With his assist in a 4-3 Penguins shootout win over the Montreal Canadiens, Crosby became the Penguins all-time leader in points with 1724. Mario Lemieux had the old record for the Penguins with 1723. Here is the reaction on X.

Gordie Howe of Floral Lake, Saskatchewan has the most points all-time with one team. He had 1809 points with the Detroit Red Wings from 1946 to 1971. Crosby, is third on the list, as he has been with the Penguins since 2005.

The only seven players with more points than Crosby are Wayne Gretzky of Brantford, Ontario (2857), Jaromir Jagr of Kladno, Czechia (1921), Mark Messier of Edmonton, Alberta (1887), Howe (1850), Ron Francis of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (1798), Marcel Dionne of Drummondville, Quebec (1771), and Steve Yzerman of Cranbrook, British Columbia (1755).

Martin St. Louis, who was an unbelievable player for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and current head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, gives great unprecedented insight as to Crosby’s overall kindness.

Here is a highlight of the record breaking point. Crosby had the secondary assist on a goal by Rickard Rakell of Sundbyberg, Sweden at 12:40 of the first period. At the time, the Penguins went up 2-1.

Crosby gives high praise to his former teammate.
