Charles Barkley Takes A Shot At Draymond Green On Christmas Morning

Charles Barkley and Draymond Green may come from different NBA eras, but over the years the two have carved out a playful rapport on Inside The NBA. They continued their tradition on Christmas morning, as the elder of the two took a playful yet meaningful jab at the aging member of the Warriors.

Ahead of Golden State’s holiday appearance, Green joined the usual four hosts of the show via Zoom, and spoke about various subjects. As Green was signing off, he exchanged pleasantries with the crew, wishing a Merry Christmas all around. He then said that people have been missing seeing Inside The NBA on TV over the past couple of months, to which Barkley responded:

“We gon’ have you back in once the playoffs start.”

It was an obvious reference to the struggles that the Warriors have endured so far during the 2025-26 season. As the NBA reaches Christmas Day, the Warriors sit at .500 with a record of 15-15, which is well below their expectations and usual standards.

The team’s inconsistency this season has provided fodder for conversation about aging core players and whether the franchise can still sustain another deep postseason run. Golden State is projected to be a big player at the trade deadline in February, as there have been rumors swirling about the team’s desire to upgrade and maximize the latter years of Stephen Curry’s career.

Green, historically, hasn’t shied away from responding in kind to Barkley’s comments, occasionally firing back with equally sharp humor when the spotlight turns his way.

Barkley’s willingness to poke fun at Green’s intensity, and Green’s laid-back but knowing responses, have become part of a broader narrative about two strong personalities who respect the game and each other, even through the jokes.

In 24 games played so far this season, Draymond Green is averaging 8.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. His field goal percentage is the second-lowest mark he’s posted since his rookie season, and his 3.1 turnovers per are his most since 2015-16.
