Is Alex De Minaur, Now Wearing Wilson, In For A Breakout 2026?

26-year-old Alex de Minaur, nicknamed “Demon”, ascended to World No. 7 in 2025. The Aussie is the nation’s best hope to win the 2026 Australian Open.

He has shown his athleticism on the court, running down balls that are seemingly impossible to get, and his humanity, consoling a heartbroken Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at the 2025 Mubadala Citi Open.

As if these are not enough reasons to like and follow him, he is also one half of our favorite tennis couple, engaged to be married to Britain’s Katie Boulter with a 2026 wedding in the works..

He recently walked away from a long relationship with Asics to be the first high profile ATP player to wear Wilson. Wilson did a good job of recruiting exciting WTA players like Marta Kostyuk and Peyton Stearns to wear its clothing line but lacked an ATP star.

Is This The Alex De Minaur Breakout Year?

De Minaur has been honest about one part of his game that needs to get better in 2026.

He is 0-18 against the two top ranked players: 0-5 against Carlos Alcaraz and 0-13 against Jannik Sinner.

De Minaur has taken a couple of sets in his matches with Alcaraz and just one set off Sinner.

To be fair, Alcaraz and Sinner have dominated many of the ATP opponents in the past couple of years so de Minaur is in good company.

However, if anyone is going to get over the hump in 2026, we think it can be de Minaur because of his fierce determination and athleticism.

De Minaur will open his season playing for Australia in the co-ed United Cup beginning January 2.
