For that game, Denver knew it would be without two key starters. Nikola Jokic is out for four weeks due to a hyperextended knee. Additionally, Cam Johnson will miss four to six weeks due to a right knee contusion. Ahead of their matchup vs. the Sixers, the Nuggets ruled out three key starters,
Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and Christian Braun will not play vs. the 76ers. Denver is without all five starters on Monday. On top of that, Jonas Valanciunas and Tim Hardaway Jr. will not play. Valanciunas suffered a right calf strain and is out at least four weeks. It will be all backups for head coach David Adelman on Monday.
Players like Peyton Watson, Spencer, Jones, and Bruce Brown will have to step up vs. the Sixers. Watson is having a career-best season with Denver is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. He’s appeared in 33 of the team’s 35 games and made 23 starts. That includes every game he’s played in since November 15.
Spencer Jones is in his second season with the Nuggets after going undrafted out of Stanford. In 2025-26, he’s played in 31 games and made 10 starts. Jones is averaging a career-high 21.5 minutes per game. He’s been a quality role player off the bench. Zeke Nnaji and Daron Holmes have also been playing expanded roles with injuries in the frontcourt. The team is without Nikola Jokic and Jonas Valanciunas for at least a month.
