San Antonio Spurs star center Victor Wembanyama showcased his impressive athleticism during warmups prior to Tuesday night’s 106-105 loss to the Grizzlies in Memphis.
Victor Wembanyama Kicks Basketballs
Four basketballs got stuck in the hoop while the Spurs were practicing inside the FedExForum, but instead of jumping up and punching the balls loose, Wembanyama decided to dislodge the balls with a karate kick.
The 7-foot-4 big man was able to knock one of the balls out of the hoop while landing back on his feet without injuring himself. It was potentially the highest kick by an NBA player ever filmed on a basketball court.

Wembanyama, who just turned 22 this past Sunday, led the Spurs with 30 points against Memphis. He finished 10-of-20 (55%) shooting from the field, 3-for-6 (50%) from 3-point range, and 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the free throw line.
Julian Champagnie added 23 points, while Stephon Castle had 15 points before fouling out with 3:13 left.
The Grizzlies led 101-100 with 2:44 left when De’Aaron Fox was in the midst of six straight points, propelling San Antonio to a 104-101 lead with 1:39 remaining.
However, Cam Spencer’s five points in the final 1:26 gave Memphis the victory.
Wembanyama Made NBA History With Spurs
Through 22 games (15 starts) this season, Wembanyama is averaging career highs of 24.6 points and 11.4 rebounds per contest while shooting a career-best 52.4% from the field and 37.4% from deep.
Earlier this season, Wemby led the Spurs to their first 5-0 start in franchise history with a fifth straight double-double, posting a team-high 26 points to go with 18 rebounds, six assists, and five blocks in a 107-101 home win over the Miami Heat on Oct. 30.
He became the second player in NBA history behind Bob McAdoo (1975) to average at least 30 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks through the first five games of a season since 1973-74, when blocks became an official stat.
In San Antonio’s 125-92 season-opener win over the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 22, he recorded a season-high 40 points on 15-of-21 (71.4%) shooting from the floor and 9-for-11 (81.8%) from the foul line.
The Spurs host the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night.
