With a 123-114 win vs. the Trail Blazers on Sunday, the Knicks are 25-14. New York is 5-5 in its last 10 and 7-7 since beating the Spurs in the NBA Cup championship on December 16.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Knicks are willing to part ways with a key role player ahead of the deadline. He listed Guerschon Yabusele as a trade candidate for the Knicks. In his first season with New York, Yabusele is struggling to find consistency and playing time. Marc Stein reported that Guerschon Yabusele will be “available” ahead of the trade deadline on February 5

Thirty-year-old Guerschon Yabusele was out of the NBA for five seasons. He played overseas to continue his professional basketball career. During the 2024 Olympics, Yabusele performed at a high level for France. This caught the attention of NBA teams. Ahead of the 2024-25 season, the former first-round pick signed a one-year, $2.8 million deal with the 76ers. Yabusele played in 70 of 82 games for Philadelphia and made 43 starts. Additionally, he averaged a career-high 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
With the resurgence of his career last season, Guerschon Yabusele signed a two-year, $11.2 million deal with the Knicks. Unfortunately, Yabusele has struggled to find the same consistency he had with Philadelphia. The veteran forward is averaging just 9.9 minutes per game this season. Yabusele has been used sparingly by head coach Mike Brown.
The Knicks are shopping Guerschon Yabusele during trade season for a rotational upgrade.
After a strong season with the Sixers, Yabusele has been a disappointment in New York.

Over the weekend, NBA insider Marc Stein shared an update on the Knicks. He noted that Guerschon Yabusele will be made “available” ahead of the trade deadline. Stein suggests the Knicks could “do some minor tweaking” to the current roster. This is not the first time we’ve heard the Knicks are shopping Yabusele. NBA insider Ian Begley reported in late December that New York is open to parting ways with Yabusele ahead of the trade deadline.
All signs point to the Knicks trading Guerschon Yabusele this season. It’s in the best interest of both parties. Yabusele is struggling with New York and is seeing minimal playing time. A change of scenery could benefit the 30-year-old. Marc Stein reported the Knicks want to make tweaks to the roster.
Yabusele was supposed to play a key role off the bench this season for New York. Could they find another stretch power forward on the trade market? Stein also said Pacome Dadiet will be on the trade block. The Knicks clearly want to upgrade their frontcourt depth.
