Like Always, Nick Chubb Quietly Delivers At Acrisure Stadium In Texans Win Over Steelers

Houston Texans RB2 Nick Chubb is flown under the radar, just as he likes it.

Chubb, the longtime Cleveland Browns RB1, signed a one year deal for $2.5 million with the Texans this year.

He has hit the 30-year-old age threshold that is often indicative of decline for running backs.

Chubb has had three devastating injuries, one at Georgia and two with the Browns. The most recent was in 2023 against the Steelers.

That’s why it was particularly satisfying and appropriate for Chubb to rush for 48 yards in the second half as the Texans were putting the Steelers away in the Monday Night Football Wild Card game.

Nick Chubb is one of those rare players who is not out for individual honors, and has always been about team football and hard work.

That type of veteran leadership, laden with humility and grace, is hard to come by in the NFL, or any professional sport really.

Ironically, Chubb was involved in the last Steelers playoff game, a winning result, for the Cleveland Browns at Acrisure Stadium in 2021.

That was the COVID-19 season where Kevin Stefanski’s Browns led by Baker Mayfield did the improbable and unexpected.

Those same Browns were competitive in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs a week later; however, the play that could arguably have derailed the game and the fate of the franchise, the Rashard Higgins touchback, which was really a helmet-to-helmet penalty that went uncalled, happened in that game.

The Browns were never the same after that, but it is reassuring to see that Nick Chubb has regained playoff success, and if there is one thing Browns fans can agree on, it is is that Chubb is deserving of all of the good stuff that comes his way.
