Donovan Mitchell and the Cavs were on the road Wednesday for a matchup vs. the 76ers. Philadelphia was down 60-47 at halftime and was never able to recover.
Cleveland routed the Sixers 133-107 and is now 23-19. Mitchell led all scorers in Wednesday’s matchup with 35 points in 33 minutes of gametime. In the third quarter, Cavs Darius Garland had the ball stolen from him. He fell to the ground to try to grab the loose ball, but injured his right foot in the process. Garland immediately grabbed his foot and grimaced in pain. The 25-year-old did not return. Head coach Kenny Atkinson said Darius Garland is doubtful to play Friday.

After starting 75 of 82 games for Cleveland in 2024-25, Darius Garland is in an uphill battle to stay on the court consistently. The two-time All-Star has been available for 26 of the team’s 42 games in 2025-26. Late in the 2024-25 season, Garland suffered a toe injury. He was shut down for two of the Cavs’ final regular-season games. Darius Garland then played in two playoff games for Cleveland in 2025. However, he proceeded to miss four consecutive games with a left toe injury.
Garland returned later in the playoffs but was not himself. The Cavs lost in the second round to the Pacers, and Garland had offseason toe surgery in June. That forced the former first-round pick to miss the first seven games of the 2025-26 season. He was still recovering from his toe surgery. This season, Darius Garland has missed 16 games for the Cavs. Including last night vs. the Sixers, he’s made 18 consecutive starts.
Darius Garland is OUT with a Right Foot Injury. 🚨
🤕 Judging by the way the foot rolled on his way down, it looks like it could be a minor foot sprain or possibly even an ankle sprain. Timeline: 1-3 Weeks.

That streak will likely come to an end on Friday when the Cavaliers play their second straight game vs. the Sixers. Darius Garland suffered a right foot injury in the third quarter vs. the 76ers on Wednesday. After the game, head coach Kenny Atkinson said Garland is “doubtful” to play Friday. Not ideal for the Garland, who was still working his back to full strength with his left toe injury.
Earlier in the year, reports said that Darius Garland would be dealing with a lingering injury in his left toe all season long. Adding a right foot injury to the mix is brutal. Cleveland can only hope this is not a long-term injury for Darius Garland. If the Cavs want to make a run in the playoffs, sitting Darius Garland to let him recover is their best option. He was already not at 100% during the 2025-26 season. Cavs fans will wait to hear if the 25-year-old PG will miss more time.
