Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 sprain of his right big toe and will be reevaluated in seven to 10 days, the team announced Sunday.
Darius Garland Suffered Toe Sprain At 76ers
Garland exited Wednesday night’s 133-107 win against the 76ers in Philadelphia with the injury and underwent further evaluation Saturday at Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine.
According to ESPN’s report, Garland sustained the injury midway through the third quarter Wednesday when he had the ball stolen from him. The former first-rounder limped to the bench and later headed to the locker room.
Head coach Kenny Atkinson said Garland was listed as doubtful to play in Friday’s game at Philadelphia.

In addition to missing Friday’s matchup, Garland will remain out for at least four more games. Jaylon Tyson, Tyrese Proctor, and Craig Porter Jr. are among the Cavs who could see more playing time.
Garland also suffered a left big toe injury in March, which sidelined him for four playoff games, and was nonproductive in his return for Cleveland’s final three games of its second-round loss to the Indiana Pacers.
The seven-year veteran underwent surgery over the offseason to address that toe injury.
Garland Reaggravated Left Big Toe
Garland missed the first eight games of 2025-26 while recovering from that procedure, then re-injured his left big toe in November, causing him to miss another five games.
Per Cleveland.com, Garland had successfully cleared all phases of his extensive rehabilitative program, and game action was the final step to see how the toe would respond to high-level intensity.
League insiders were then told by team sources that Garland had returned to the court too early from that injury.
Garland, who will turn 26 this month, entered Wednesday averaging 17.9 points and 6.9 assists in 25 games this season. He had 20 points and seven assists in 23 minutes before exiting at Philadelphia.
Last season, Garland was named an All-Star for the second time of his career after averaging 20.6 points and 6.7 assists per game en route to leading the Cavaliers to the best record in the Eastern Conference.
The Cavs host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
