Watch: Tyrese Maxey’s Career-High Eight Steals Power 76ers Past Pacers

For Martin Luther King Day on Monday, there were nine NBA games for fans to enjoy. One of them was the 76ers hosting the Pacers.

Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid led the team offensively with 30 points vs. Indiana. However, Tyrese Maxey was not far behind with 29 points. He also added four rebounds, eight assists, one block, and a career-high eight steals. Maxey was dominant defensively on Monday evening. Eight steals is tied for the most by a player in a single game over the last five seasons.

Tyrese Maxey is playing at a first-team All-NBA level in 2025-26

In his sixth professional season, Tyrese Maxey continues to elevate his game for the 76ers. With the injuries Joel Embiid has battled in recent years, Maxey has become a player the team has relied on massively. Some would call him the new face of the franchise. The 25-year-old has started 39 games this season for Philadelphia. He’s missed just two of their 41 games so far. Maxey is averaging a career-high 30.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. Tyrese Maxey has been one of the NBA’s top players in the first half of the year.

That’s why Maxey was named an All-Star starter for the first time in his career on Monday. He’s been a catalyst for the Sixers all season and is more than deserving of this honor. His rise to stardom has saved the Sixers’ franchise. Against the Pacers on Monday, Tyrese Maxey put on a show for the home crowd. His 29 points, four rebounds, eight assists, and one block were impressive. However, Maxey added a career-high eight steals to his outing vs. Indiana.

Tyrese Maxey has given the Sixers’ franchise life again. The team was unsure how the future would look with Joel Embiid’s availability always a question. The PG is doing his part and then some to try to lead the 76ers to the playoffs. After the win on Monday vs. the Pacers, Philadelphia is 23-18 this season. Additionally, the team is 11-11 at home.

The Sixers will play in the second game of a back-to-back on Tuesday at home vs. the Suns. This will be the first of two meetings this season between Philadelphia and Phoenix. In 2025-26, the Suns have been a surprise team in the West. Media members were unsure what the team would look like after they parted ways with Kevin Durant. Phoenix is 26-17 this season. Tyrese Maxey and the Sixers will have their hands full on Tuesday evening.
