Emmanuel Acho is going after ABC, and this time he is not being subtle about it. The former NFL linebacker and former Bachelor franchise host says the network had more than enough information on Taylor Frankie Paul before naming her the lead for Season 22 of The Bachelorette, then only backed away once the video became public and the optics turned ugly.

Acho spoke from experience. He hosted The Bachelor: After the Final Rose in 2021, and he said the franchise put him through extensive vetting before he ever went on camera.
His argument was blunt: “Ultimately, they asked me to end up hosting it; but before they asked me to end up hosting it, severe background check after background check after background check.”
He then added the line that is getting most of the attention: “I say that to say, the franchise knew everything you needed to know about this woman, and they turned a blind eye. And that is what, to me, is disgusting.”
Acho did not stop there. He also said, “And as soon as they found out this video existed, they were like, ‘Uh-oh, we just got caught.’”
That is why this has gone from reality TV scandal to an accountability story about ABC itself. The network had already filmed the season. It had already promoted Taylor Frankie Paul. Then the TMZ video dropped, and the season was dead within hours.

The footage from the 2023 incident is the part ABC could no longer explain away. It showed Taylor Frankie Paul physically attacking Dakota Mortensen while her daughter was nearby. At one point, Mortensen says, “Your daughter just got hit in the head by a metal chair.”
That incident was not new. The arrest was already public. Paul later pleaded guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault. But the video made the story harder to package, soften, or sidestep. ABC then announced it would not move forward with the season.
That sequence is what Acho seized on. To him, the network did not suddenly learn something new. It got exposed to a much bigger audience.
