Kylian Mbappe France

Kylian Mbappe has given his opinion on Didier Deschamps decision to leave his post as France manager after the 2026 World Cup.

Kylian Mbappe Hints Towards Didier Deschamps Future

The Real Madrid superstar has pleaded with Dider Deschamps as the French manager is set to leave his role once the 2026 World Cup comes to an end.

Deschamps has overseen 179 matches since taking the reins in July 2012, guiding Les Bleu to a World Cup trophy in 2018 and becoming the third person to win the competition as a player and manager.

In January 2025, the 57-year-old revealed that he will step down after the 2026 World Cup and the Frenchman has been linked with multiple roles elsewhere.

France begin their World Cup campaign against Senegal on June 16th and the 2018 champions will be turning to their star man – Kylian Mbappe.

The 27-year-old is expected to be France’s leading talisman in North America and Mbappe is hoping to give Deschamps a dream farewell.

Mbappe has a strong relationship with the French manager and recently claimed that seeing Deschamps manager another international team would be ‘ugly’.

“I hope that he doesn’t play another World Cup with another team. I’m applying the pressure. The media have said Italy and everything… that would be ugly,”

“He represents a lot to us. Quite a few national teams will want him given the work he has done. Italy should take an Italian! Didier is French, he is ours.”

There has been no official approach for Deschamps’ services and the Frenchman is expected to take a break from management after the World Cup.

The 57-year-old is focused on the task at hand and has a decision to make in attack, as some France supporters have questioned Mbappe’s place in the starting lineup.

Will Mbappe Start For France vs Senegal?

The French national team has one of the most star-studded attacks in World Cup history, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise, Desire Doue, Marcus Thuram, Rayan Cherki, Bradley Barcola and Mbappe all looking for a place in the starting lineup.

Dembele, Doue and Barcola are all coming off a Champions League triumph, with the former picking up a Ballon d’Or for his performances in the 20024/25 campaign.

Additionally, Michael Olise is one of the favourites to win the award this year after a tremendous season with Bayern Munich and Deschamps appears to be a huge fan of the former Crystal Palace player.

This, alongside a difficult season in Madrid, has left Mbappe’s position in the French side in doubt and many have considered the possibility of leaving the 27-year-old out of the starting lineup.

However, all reports suggest that Mbappe will be leading the line for France on June 16th as he looks to break the all-time World Cup goal scoring record.
