Jeanty’s talent at the running back position is undeniable.
The Boise State product led the country with 2,601 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns in 14 games. That’s the second-most rushing yards in a season, behind the 2,628 yards Oklahoma State’s Barry Sanders rushed for in 1988.
Jeanty will be selected in the first round, most likely in the top half.
Where he goes is still up in the air.
There’s an old adage to “never draft a running back in the first round.” However, Jeanty has the talent to be a franchise running back for years to come.
In his latest mock draft, ESPN’s Mel Kiper described Jeanty as a back with “excellent speed, contact balance and vision” before saying he could be an “elite three-down back in the NFL.”

BetOnline believes Jeanty won’t make it past the sixth pick, which belongs to the Las Vegas Raiders (-130).
New coach Pete Carroll built successful Seattle teams with the strategy of running the ball and playing great defense. Since Las Vegas was last in rushing yards per game a season ago, Jeanty could come in and start immediately.
The Chicago Bears (+275) are an interesting team to consider at pick 10. First-year coach Ben Johnson thrived in a two-running-back system when calling plays for the Detroit Lions.
David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs formed the best duo in the NFL. While it’s nowhere near the talent level of Detroit’s backs, Jeanty and D’Andre Swift are a solid option for a team that must establish the run to protect their young quarterback.
