The Ringer’s Todd McShay has released his first NFL mock draft. The major takeaway upon first glance is the Titans and Browns passing on a quarterback at the top of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Titans And Browns Pass On QB

The Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 pick, and according to McShay, they want to move back.

“This is exactly what I’m hearing. If there’s a wish list for [Mike] Borgonzi and Tennessee, it’s to trade out of this pick,” McShay said on The McShay Show podcast.

The Titans leadership has previously said they will not pass on “generational talent” with the first pick.

McShay has the Titans passing on a quarterback to take Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter.

“He’s the best player in this draft,” he said. “And it’s at a position of priority that is prioritized, in my opinion, over any other position outside of a quarterback.”

Sitting at No. 2 are the Cleveland Browns. Like the Titans, McShay has the Browns passing on a quarterback and selecting Colorado wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter.

“I’ve heard from multiple sources now, Cleveland, they’re not pulling the trigger on a quarterback here at two,” McShay said.

The Browns still have Deshaun Watson under contract for two seasons. However, Watson will miss most of the 2025 season with a ruptured Achilles.

McShay predicts the Browns will look for a stopgap quarterback before finding a long-term solution in 2026. The Ringer analyst believes Kirk Cousins could be an option at quarterback for Cleveland this season.

New York Giants Take First Quarterback

The quarterback drought ends at No. 3 with the New York Giants.

McShay mocks Miami’s Cam Ward to the Giants.

“The future is now for general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll,” McShay said. “They selected their WR1, Malik Nabers, in last year’s draft. Now they must finally nab a talent worth developing at quarterback. Ward needs a coach like Daboll to drive home the importance of consistent footwork, staying on schedule, and playing within the confines of the offense.”

McShay likes Ward’s arm strength, creativity, and leadership.

“He’s also a demanding leader who holds himself and his teammates to a high standard, which is exactly what this Giants organization needs at the quarterback position,” McShay said.
