The 2025 NFL Draft is approaching, and teams are starting to decide which positions to target and which players to select.

Front offices need to hit on their picks, especially if they have a high draft selection. The quarterback position is the most crucial in the NFL, but this isn’t the best year to choose one. Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are the top two quarterbacks in the draft.

The four players expected to go in the top four are QB Cam Ward, DL Abdul Carter, QB Shedeur Sanders, and WR/CB Travis Hunter.

Tennessee holds the number one overall pick and desperately needs a quarterback. The Titans are expected to select Cam Ward, who is widely regarded as the best QB in the draft and the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

However, once Ward is picked first, it’s uncertain who might go next among Carter, Sanders, and Hunter.

Here is the current draft order for the first four picks:

  • 1. Tennessee Titans
  • 2. Cleveland Browns
  • 3. New York Giants
  • 4. New England Patriots

Could Travis Hunter Fall To The New England Patriots?

It is widely considered that Cam Ward will go number one. Unless the Titans trade back for a significant offer, they are expected to choose Ward as their future franchise quarterback.

After Ward is selected, the NFL Draft becomes intriguing, particularly for the New England Patriots.

Cleveland Sees Hunter As More Of A WR

Cleveland needs a quarterback, but there hasn’t been much talk about them favoring Shedeur Sanders. The Browns might choose between Sanders, Hunter, and Carter. If they don’t see Sanders as a franchise QB, this means it will be a decision between Abdul Carter and Travis Hunter. There have been discussions about pairing Abdul Carter with Myles Garrett, which would create a formidable duo. Travis Hunter has also been mentioned for the Browns.

According to CBS Sports’ Aditi Kinkhabwala, Cleveland’s GM Andrew Berry sees Hunter primarily as a receiver.

Selecting Hunter as a WR with the number two overall pick wouldn’t make much sense for Cleveland without a franchise QB. If the Browns don’t believe in Shedeur Sanders, they might opt for Abdul Carter to pair him with Myles Garrett.

Will The Giants Take A Chance On Shedeur Sanders?

If Cleveland picks Abdul Carter, it leaves the New York Giants with the choice of QB Shedeur Sanders or WR/CB Travis Hunter.

Given that the Patriots already have a QB in Drake Maye, they hope the Giants will select Sanders, allowing them to draft Hunter as their number one WR.

The Giants have been associated with Shedeur Sanders. A recent video has surfaced, speculating that the Giants will indeed select Sanders.

New England hopes that the Giants value Sanders enough to take him since they don’t need a QB. The Patriots enter the draft aiming to secure either Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter; however, they are in dire need of a WR, and Hunter could be an exceptional talent.

Pairing Hunter with Drake Maye could form a strong QB-WR duo that lasts for years.

The Patriots desperately need a true WR1 but they’ll require Hunter to slip to the fourth pick. Their best chance of that happening is if Ward goes first, Carter goes second, and Sanders goes third overall.

Where the Patriots can get in trouble is if the Browns and Giants do not like Shedeur Sanders enough, and Carter and Hunter go 2 and 3. This would put the Patriots in a predicament, and it may be wise to trade back and stock up on draft picks.
