2026 MLB Free Agency: Kyle Tucker Projected To Receive Biggest Contract

Kyle Tucker is one of baseball’s most complete young stars, and will be available for the taking as he hits free agency this MLB offseason. The outfielder is widely regarded as the best player on the board this winter, and is likely to command the biggest contract of them all.

Kyle Tucker Is The Top MLB Free Agent This Offseason

Over the course of his career, Tucker has steadily evolved into a five-tool threat. In his last fully healthy season (2023), he led the American League in RBIs, adding 29 home runs and 30 stolen bases. He has played in 214 of his last 324 possible contests, but has still qualified as an All-Star in each of the last four seasons.

Before the start of the 2025 season, Tucker was traded to the Chicago Cubs, but the stint was likely nothing more than a rental. On Thursday, the Cubs extended a qualifying offer to Tucker, which carries a one-year deal worth roughly $22 million. He is likely to decline, as there is more money and long-term security waiting for him in MLB free agency.

Tucker Will Command Contract Worth Over $300 Million

According to reports, Kyle Tucker will be commanding a contract with a value north of $300 million.

With him still being just 28 years of age, teams will be willing to make a long-term investment. He may not be able to go the route of Juan Soto and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and sign on for 14 or 15 years, but a 9 to 10-year deal could be realistic.

Where would a deal like that place him in annual value? If Tucker were to sign a deal, say, for 9 years and $325 million, he would carry an AAV of $36.1 million. That would put him on par with Geurrero, and ahead of players like Francisco Lindor ($34.4m) and Carlos Correa ($33.3m).

While every team would like to add a player of Kyle Tucker’s stature, there may only be a few willing to dole out the money this offseason. There have been some franchises mentioned in rumors, including the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

Other teams that have been rumored to have interest are the San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia Phillies.
