We are just about a week away from the 2024 NFL trade deadline. We saw a flurry of action last week when Davante Adams, Amari Cooper, and others were shipped off to new places, and there are still rumors of teams that could be buying or selling ahead of next Tuesday’s deadline.

Which teams will be looking to add pieces for a playoff, and potentially Super Bowl, run? Here are three teams that could be buyers at the deadline.

Pittsburgh Steelers

After their victory on Monday night coupled with the Ravens’ defeat at the hands of the Browns, the Steelers now find themselves in first place in the AFC North. With just a week left before the NFL trade deadline, there is a good chance that they’ll become buyers as the clock winds down.

Pittsburgh was one of the teams that has been rumored to be interested in bringing in a bigger-name wide receiver, but they are running out of options. Adams, Cooper, as well as DeAndre Hopkins have already found new homes, leaving the Steelers with only a few names to consider.

Could Cooper Kupp be one of them? The Rams wideout has been rumored to be on the trade block, and there are few teams left that are in notable need of a wide receiver. Other options would include guys like Christian Kirk from the Jaguars, or Darius Slayton from the Giants.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are going to have to make some kind of change if they want to make any kind of run this season. They’ve gone just 2-4 since their opening week win over the Browns, and are already 2.5 games back of the Commanders in the NFC West with about half a season to play.

Where can they improve? It would start with their run defense. The 154.6 yards per game that they give up on the ground is tied for the worst in the league, on par with the lowly Panthers. They would certainly be one of the rumored teams should the Browns ultimately shop Myles Garrett, but fixing the leaky defensive line could be an issue that has to be dealt with in-house.

There have been other trade proposals rumored in the media, including one for Cleveland running back Nick Chubb. That would likely help a running game that is ranked dead last in the NFL with 74 yards per contest through their first seven.

Arizona Cardinals

There is a surprise log jam atop the NFC West, with the Cardinals, 49ers, and Seahawks all sitting at an even 4-4. But thanks to their victory over San Francisco and a tiebreaker over Seattle, Arizona finds themselves in the driver’s seat heading into the latter half of the season.

Could they be buyers at the trade deadline? It was originally thought that they’d be sellers on the market, given that many assumed that the 49ers would run away with the division. Guys like Buddah Baker and James Conner were mentioned by reputable outlets as being possible trade bait, and those guys could still be on the block depending on what the Cardinals’ plans are for the immediate and long-term futures.

The defense is ranked one of the worst in the league, ranking in the bottom five in both passing and rushing yards allowed. SportsCasting’s Kyle Odegard highlighted three possible trade targets in the way of pass rushers, including Baron Browning and Azeez Ojulari.
