It was just two years ago when a teenager won the US Open. Coco Gauff won her maiden Grand Slam at the age of 19.
Before Gauff, teenagers already developed a reputation of winning this tournament including Bianca Andreescu (2019), Emma Raducanu (2021), and Carlos Alcaraz (2022).
There are four teenagers who have their eyes on the prize and have a decent chance at making a long run in New York.
1. Mirra Andreeva
Of the four, Mirra Andreeva is in the best position to win her maiden Grand Slam. Andreeva, 18, won two WTA-1000 tournaments this spring at Indian Wells and Dubai.
She lost in the second round in 2023 and 2024, but the 2024 French Open semifinalist has the game and experience to pull off a New York win.
Andreeva, seeded fifth, opens her US Open campaign against the surging American Alycia Parks on Monday, August 25.

2. Victoria Mboko
Victoria Mboko exploded onto the scene in 2025, but her true coming-out party was at the Canadian Open where she won her first WTA title at a WTA 1000 event in front of the home crowd.
Mboko, 18, showed that she had the shots and the nerve to go toe-to-toe with anyone.
She is seeded 22nd and will take on the unseeded 2024 Wimbledon Champion Barbora Krejcikova in her first round match.

3. Joao Fonseca
19-year-old Brazilian superstar Joao Fonseca is considered the future of tennis. Since turning down a college scholarship to play tennis at the University of Virginia and turning pro in 2024, Fonseca’s charisma and energy has packed tennis stadiums with adoring fans whose energy measures a professional soccer match.
Fonseca’s first round US Open match is against Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic on Monday.
4. Learner Tien
19-year-old Learner Tien is up for the challenge of his first round match against tennis legend Novak Djokovic.
Tien is ranked World No. 48 and a relative newcomer to the scene, turning pro in 2023.
He will not be intimidated by Djokovic and could register one of the biggest tournament upsets on Sunday night in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
