76ers Paid $90,000 Per Point That Paul George & Joel Embiid Scored In 2024-25

Two of the worst contracts in the NBA reside on the Philadelphia 76ers payroll, and the franchise paid an obscene amount of money per point from their stars this season.
76ers Paid Over $100 Million For George & Embiid In 2024-25
The 2024-25 regular season has been nothing short of a disaster for the 76ers. It was thought that the acquisition of Paul George via free agency would help Philadelphia finally get past the second round of the playoffs, something that has eluded Joel Embiid and company for years. They were given a win total of 49.5 by the Las Vegas sportsbooks, and had the 8th-shortest championship odds of any team in the league.
But thanks to injuries and drastic dropoffs in production, the team won’t even come close to sniffing the postseason this year. In fact, there are only two teams in the Eastern Conference who currently have a worse mark, and the 76ers are in full-on tank mode after prematurely ending the seasons of both George and Embiid.

The duo combined to play in just 60 games (41 for George, 19 for Embiid). And they weren’t all that great when they did, posting a combined average of 20 points per game. Together, they managed to score 1,117 points in 2024-25, which is equal to the total that Victor Wembanyama posted in 46 appearances.
And for doing so, the 76ers handed Paul George and Joel Embiid a total of $100,621,738. That equates to $1.67 million per game played, or just over $90,000 for each single point that they scored.
None of it bodes well for the immediate future. George will be 35 years old next season, and has seen an obvious decline in his skill set. He still has three years left on his contract with Philadelphia and is owed $162 million over that span. They’re in an even worse spot with Embiid, who hasn’t even had his three-year extension kick in yet. Between now and the end of the 2028-29 NBA season, the often-injured center is owed roughly $193 million.
