Is Aaron Rodgers Retiring? Why The Jets Might Not Move On From Their QB

The Pittsburgh Steelers have patiently waited for Aaron Rodgers to decide on his future.

Reports have indicated the Steelers have had an offer for weeks.

Rodgers visited the Steelers facility on Friday but no deal was reached at the time.

He met with head coach Mike Tomlin, offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, and general manager Omar Khan.

They were not expected to reach a deal Friday but it was more to meet.

The Steelers skipped Michigan Pro Day to host Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers A “Safe Bet” To Land With The Pittsburgh Steelers

On Sunday night, ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio stated “As one source in the general vicinity of those who would be in position to know said Sunday, it’s a “safe bet” that quarterback Aaron Rodgers eventually will sign with the Steelers.”

Florio said “The “when” remains to be seen. The “if” is slowly becoming more clear.”

He hinted at when the possible announcement could arrive.

Pat McAfee, a very good friend of Aaron Rodgers is hosting a live show in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, April 9. McAfee grew up in Pittsburgh and is tight with Rodgers. This event will be held in the PPG Paints Arena.

It would not be surprising if one of his guests or “friends” who shows up is Aaron Rodgers.

The event is two weeks away and two weeks before the 2025 NFL Draft. This makes the most sense for Rodgers to announce he is taking his talents to Pittsburgh.

Time will tell if this is when Rodgers will announce he is joining the Steelers.

Does Rodgers Make The Steelers Super Bowl Contenders?

This would have been a very simple yes if this was a few years ago.

However, at this stage of Rodgers’ career, being 41 years old and two years away from tearing his Achilles, the Steelers are not Super Bowl contenders with Rodgers under center.

Even before he tore his Achilles, Rodgers was starting to slip in his play.

He may help the Steelers finally win a playoff game, something they haven’t done since 2016.

However, it is difficult to imagine Rodgers getting the Steelers to be a Super Bowl contender at this stage in his career.
