AJ Brown was caught by FOX cameras doing a bit of reading during Sunday’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers. The Eagles wide receiver said that he brings a book called “Inner Excellence” with him everywhere, which apparently includes the sidelines of important playoff games. He says that he reads it to refocus during games, and that he does so whether his situation is good or bad.

Book Read By AJ Brown On Eagles Sideline Sees Huge Sales Increase

There are plenty more people around the country who are now reading the book written by Jim Murphy back in 2020.

Brown apparently started a craze. In the two days after the NFC Wild Card game, the book has soared up the charts. Originally buried at No. 552,709 on Amazon’s bestseller list, “Inner Excellence” has shot all the way up to no. 1, selling thousands of copies on its way to the very top of the list. On Monday morning, it is the top-selling book on Amazon. The success has carried through the week, as well, as it still sits in the 6th spot as of Wednesday morning.

According to Amazon’s sales numbers, the book is up a whopping 53,273,200% since last week. Yes, that is 53 million percent.

Brown Reads The Book Every Game

How does AJ Brown use the book for his benefit? He says that he brings it to every game, and that he reads it in between each drive “to lock in, no matter what happens.” How much of the book he actually reads has come into question from his teammates. Quarterback Jalen Hurts was asked about it, and he said that he’s seen the book in the wide receiver’s hands, but says he has never seen him read.

But Brown’s copy of the book is well-worn, and certainly has the appearance of being in and out of luggage and on NFL sidelines, based on its wear and tear. He even flipped through the pages for some curious reporters after the game, showing that he has some passages underlined and highlighted, and the notes that he writes for himself in the margins.

The author Murphy is a former athlete himself. Although he never made it to the major leagues, he was an outfield prospect in the Chicago Cubs organization, and uses some of his learned sports psychology throughout the book. He says that he hasn’t personally met AJ Brown yet, but will be reaching out to him, probably to thank him for the massive uptick in sales.

The Eagles will play another home game this weekend, this time against the Los Angeles Rams. It is unknown if “Inner Excellence” will be featured on the Philadelphia sideline again.
