Ashlyn Krueger

Ashlyn Krueger is the only American left in the women’s singles draw at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Open. On Thursday, she outlasted Canadian Leylah Fernandez in a three-set quarterfinal battle filled with ups and downs.

While American women’s tennis has been focused on 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys, and rightly so, Ashlyn Krueger has been collecting her share of big wins also.

Currently ranked World No. 51, the 20-year-old Dallas, Texas resident, born in Springfield, Missouri, defeated World No. 10 Paula Badosa in a three-set battle at Adelaide International.  The first two sets of the match were settled by tight tiebreakers with Krueger winning the first, and dropping the second, before running away with the third set.

In her previous round at Abu Dhabi, Krueger defeated World No. 11 Daria Kasatkina. Krueger dropped the first set 1-6 before charging back to take the final two sets 7-5, 6-4.

Ashly Krueger Already Won 2 WTA Titles

In 2023, she won the WTA 250 Japan Open to earn her maiden title. Her second title came in doubles, pairing with 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens at the WTA 500 event, the 2024 Charleston Open.

American Women’s Tennis Is In Good Hands

Krueger is among a talented group of American women’s tennis players climbing the rankings. Four US women, Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, and Emma Navarro, are in the Top 10.  Danielle Collins is ranked 12th.  Amanda Anisimova and Peyton Stearns are 40th and 46th respectively.

Krueger is having a great start to 2025. She could leapfrog over some of her American compatriots if she continues to record big wins.
