Anthony Edwards Avoids Suspension, Will Play Sunday Against Jazz

The Minnesota Timberwolves are jockeying for important playoff position, and face a must-win game against the Utah Jazz in the regular season finale on Sunday. For a while it looked like they’d be without their star player and leading scorer, but the NBA has rescinded a technical foul that will allow Anthony Edwards to participate.
Anthony Edwards Cleared To Play Sunday vs. Jazz
During the second quarter of Friday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, Edwards was called for a foul that he didn’t exactly agree with. He was handed the technical for complaining to the referees, who said that they issued the foul due to the language Edwards’ used with them.
It was the 18th technical foul called on the 23-year-old guard during the 2024-25 NBA season, which leads the NBA. The rules state that a player must be suspended for a game after his 16th technical of the season, which was a punishment that Edwards already served back in February 28th.
But another one-game suspension is handed down for each subsequent set of two technicals that a player receives, and Sunday was set to be the second missed game of the year due to disciplinary reasons for the Timberwolves leading scorer.

Upon further review from the league, the punishment has been rescinded It was announced on Saturday that Anthony Edwards would indeed be available during Sunday’s game against Utah.
The Timberwolves will enter the day in the 7th seed in the Western Conference, and have a chance to finish anywhere between the 4th and 8th spots, depending on how the day shakes out around the league. The most important portion of the playoff scenarios for Minnesota is picking up a win against the Jazz, which they have a very strong chance of doing.
The Timberwolves are currently listed as 21.5-point favorites, which represents one of the largest point spreads in NBA history. They were favored by 20.5 over the Nets on Friday, which was the highest spread in franchise history, and they’ll eclipse that number on Sunday.
Anthony Edwards is averaging a career-high 27.4 points so far this season, the 4th-highest mark of any player in the NBA. No player has made (or attempted) more three-point shots in 2024-25.
