Texas A&M Wins, LSU Fires Brian Kelly

No. 3 Texas A&M is the real deal. Down 18-14 to LSU, Texas A&M scored 35 straight points to pick up the 49-25 victory over the Tigers in Death Valley.

The Aggies are 8-0 for the first time in 33 years. The A&M offense outgained LSU in total yards, 426 to 278.

The story should be about A&M’s dominance, but the biggest takeaway from this game involves the LSU coaching staff.

The next day, LSU fired head coach Brian Kelly after three-and-a-half seasons. LSU now becomes one of the top jobs available in college football alongside Penn State and Florida.

No. 3 Texas A&M has a bye week before traveling to No. 19 Missouri on Nov. 8.

Vanderbilt Continues to Turn Heads

College GameDay made the controversial decision to broadcast from No. 10 Vanderbilt before the game against No. 15 Missouri in Nashville.

Even with the extra pressure, Vanderbilt walked away with a 17-10 win. The Commodores are now ranked at No. 9, the university’s highest ranking since 1937.

Tied 10-10, the Vanderbilt offense executed a 9-play, 44-yard drive, capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Diego Pavia to put Vanderbilt ahead 17-10.

At 7-1, Vanderbilt controls its own destiny for the College Football Playoff. No. 9 Vanderbilt (7-1) travels to Austin to play No. 20 Texas (6-2) on Nov. 1.

Last Weekend Before College Football Playoff Rankings

In just over one week, the first College Football Playoff rankings will be announced. ESPN will air the CFP selection show.

Here is the schedule for the CFP Rankings Show.

  • 8-8:45 p.m. | ET Tuesday, Nov. 4
  • 7-8 p.m. ET | Tuesday, Nov. 11
  • 8:30-9 p.m. ET | Tuesday, Nov. 18
  • 7-8 p.m. ET | Tuesday, Nov. 25
  • 7-7:30 p.m. ET | Tuesday, Dec. 2
  • 12-3 p.m. ET | Sunday, Dec. 7 (Selection Day)
