The San Francisco 49ers are no strangers to dealing with high profile players holding out during training camp. And they may be facing yet another contract dispute in 2025 as Jauan Jennings is reportedly looking for either a new contract this year.
Or a trade.
Jauan Jennings Wants New Contract From The 49ers
Jennings signed an extension last offseason with a length of two years and a payout of $15.3 million. He went on to have the best season of his career in 2024, racking up 975 yards and scoring 6 touchdowns, with both marks being the highest of any 49ers wide receiver.

He is scheduled to make $7.5 million for the upcoming campaign, but based on his production from last season, he wants more. According to a report released on Monday, Jennings either wants a new contract before the season starts, or wants to be traded.
There has been no formal trade request made as of yet, but Jennings has approached the 49ers about his request. If no deal is struck by the time the team enters training camp next week, then he will ask to be dealt to a team that is willing to pay him.
Training camp contract negotiations are becoming the norm for San Francisco. Just last year, Brandon Aiyuk held out for a new deal until August 30th, when the wide receiver finally came to an agreement on a four year, $120 million contract. That was also the case for Trent Williams, who held out for 40 days in 2024.

The year before that, Nick Bosa held out 44 days before signing his massive deal. In 2022, it was Deebo Samuel who requested a trade before finally committing.
Based on ESPN’s reporting on Jennings, the 28-year-old wideout might not be a training camp holdout, but it is likely that he’ll be unhappy until he and the 49ers are able to strike a deal.
Will he get his wish? San Francisco has been doling out big contracts to their stars seemingly every offseason, and already took care of quarterback Brock Purdy in the spring by paying him $53 million annually. The 49ers also made George Kittle the highest paid tight end in the game by giving him a four-year deal worth over $76 million.
The big money on Aiyuk’s deal isn’t set to kick in until 2027, so the team doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of money committed to the wide receiver position. At least not yet.
