The Maryland Terrapins took another 2026 top 10 prospect off the board, as Baba Oladotun committed to play under Buzz Williams on Wednesday. Oladotun was a former number one-ranked player in the 2027 high school recruiting class before reclassifying to 2026. After reclassifying, Oladotun sits as the 10th-ranked player on 247’s composite board for 2026. He chose Maryland over Kentucky, Georgetown and Arkansas.
Oladotun, born in December 2008, is now extremely young for his class and won’t turn 18 until the beginning of his freshman season at Maryland. His youth, 6’10 frame and flashes of shotmaking and ball skills made him one of the class’s most intriguing prospects. And after playing up an age group this summer with Team Durant’s 17u squad on the Nike EYBL circuit, Oladotun will set his sights on College Park.
Oladotun is a high-potential prospect
The Maryland native held his own against older and stronger opponents, averaging 13.8 points and 5.9 rebounds on 56.3% true shooting as a role player. His play this summer earned him a top-six ranking on our Sportscasting top 25 ranking for the 2026 class. He marks the second-highest rated commitment in Terrapins history, according to 247, only trailing Diamond Stone in 2015.

Impacting winning may take some timeÂ
While Oladotun needs plenty of improvement to his body and consistency on the court, his best moments combined with his size and age are positive signs for his future. He isn’t a consistent outside shooter yet, but Oladotun’s ability to find pull-up mid-range shots is frightening, especially when his handle holds up downhill.
At Maryland, Oladotun might not break out as an immediate star like Derik Queen did in 2024-25. He’s the fourth player in Willams’s 2026 class, joining four-stars Kaden House and Adama Tambedou and three-star Austin Brown. His youth an inexperience might mean Oladotun needs a few years of college seasoning before breaking out, but his undeniable talent makes him a critical commitment for Maryland’s future.
