Bundesliga holders Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler. The German outfit has supposedly already gotten in touch with Guler’s entourage to discuss a potential summer transfer.

Xabi Alonso Wants Bayer Leverkusen to Sign Real Madrid Youngster Arda Guler

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, Bayer Leverkusen has identified Guler as a priority target for the summer of 2025. Leverkusen manager and former Real Madrid star Xabi Alonso is reportedly hoping to convince Los Blancos to let the Turkish midfielder move to the German club. Leverkusen want to pull off the transfer in the summer but they have already made contact with Guler’s agents to lay down the groundwork.

Guler, 19, is one of the most talented young midfielder in Europe. The Turkey international has not played as much as he would have liked since joining Real Madrid last summer, but his ability to create and score has shone through. Alonso is reportedly a big fan of Guler and believes his addition would greatly improve Leverkusen’s midfield.

The Spanish tactician has done wonders with youngsters at Leverkusen, with them chipping in with defining performances as they became the first team in history to win the Bundesliga without losing a single match last season. Guler could surely benefit from a spell under Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, as he could get a lot more exposure in Germany. However, as things stand, the teenager is solely focused on developing at Real Madrid and becoming a fixture in the first XI.

Carlo Ancelotti Explains Why Arda Guler Is Struggling for Minutes

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has only started Guler in five matches in La Liga and just once in the UEFA Champions League. Speaking to the press ahead of Los Blancos’ Champions League clash with Atalanta, Ancelotti revealed the reason behind Guler’s lack of minutes.

Developing young talent requires a measured approach,” said Ancelotti (via FootBoom).

Every match, I aim to field the strongest lineup possible, but we must exercise patience with our younger players. Their youthful spirit is invigorating, yet they have lessons to learn in their football journey.

Guler has played 29 matches for Real Madrid since his move from Fenerbahce last summer, scoring seven goals and providing an assist. His contract with Los Blancos expires on June 30, 2029.
