Ben Simmons’ career path has been quite interesting since he entered the league. The 29-year-old was drafted first overall by the 76ers in 2016. However, Simmons suffered a right foot fracture during the preseason. That forced him to miss his entire rookie season due to injury. Not how Simmons wanted his career to begin. Despite the early setback, Simmons had a strong start to his career.
In 2017-18, Ben Simmons was named Rookie of the Year with the Sixers. The following season, he was named an all-star for the first time in his career. Things got extremely messy ahead of the 2021-22 season. Ben Simmons sat out during traning camp and preseason. That eventually rolled into the regular season as well. During the 2021-22 season, Philadelphia traded Ben Simmons to the Brooklyn Nets.

The three-time all-star made his stance well-known. Ben Simmons said, “I’d hoop there for free.” He emphasized how returning to Philadelphia would not be for the money. Additionally, Simmons mentioned he is focused on getting “the body to 100%” before he makes a return. Ben Simmons has made it publicly known that he would like to rejoin the team. We’ll see if the Sixers feel the same way. Philadelphia is 11-9 through its first 20 games of the 2025-26 season.
