Jack Draper Is Britain’s Latest Tennis Star

Great Britain gets behind its successful tennis players in a big way.  Former World No. 4, Tim Henman, 50, has “Henman Hill” named after him on the Wimbledon grounds.  Henman was a six-time Grand Slam semifinalist with four at Wimbledon.  Henman won 11 titles in his career.

Andy Murray, 37, picked up where Henman left off winning three Grand Slams, two at Wimbledon.  The former World No. 1 also won two Olympic gold medals including the unforgettable win at the London Olympics played at Wimbledon in 2012.  Murray amassed 46 titles, the 15th most in the Open Era.

Emma Raducanu, 22, went from virtual unknown to Grand Slam champion with her miracle run from the qualifying rounds at the 2021 US Open.

Because of his BNP Paribas Open win, Jack Draper ascended into the Top 10 for the first time in his career.  His most recent successes including a semifinal finish in last year’s US Open have happened on the hardcourts, but his dream is to win at home at Wimbledon.

Staying Healthy Is The Key For Draper

The biggest drawback for Draper up to this point in his career has been his inability to stay healthy to compete.  He had to retire in his fourth-round match against Carlos Alcaraz at this year’s Australian Open.  At the time, Alcaraz, who would lose to Draper at Indian Wells, two months later, wrote a prophetic statement on the camera to Draper who is well-liked among his peers: “You will be where you deserve.”
