The Brandon Aiyuk situation in San Francisco has received a major update. Will the 49ers star wide receiver remain in San Francisco? Will he get traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers?
49ers, Steelers Have Trade In Place For Brandon Aiyuk
From The Insiders on @nflnetwork: The #49ers and Brandon Aiyuk aren’t that far apart on a deal, which is why they haven’t pulled the trigger on a trade to the #Steelers and Aiyuk is still hoping they can clear one final hurdle in the negotiations. pic.twitter.com/hyJvFckRrn

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 49ers and Steelers have agreed to the parameters of a trade that would send Aiyuk to Pittsburgh.
The 49ers have not pulled the trigger on a trade because they still hope to keep Aiyuk in San Francisco. Rapoport mentioned the 49ers have offered Aiyuk a long-term contract extension, which remains on the table.
Aiyuk, 26, has not accepted San Francisco’s offer.
Last week, Andrew Fillipponi reported that the Steelers verbally agreed to acquire Aiyuk from the 49ers. The Steelers have a contract extension ready for Aiyuk if the trade goes through.
The New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns also showed interest in Aiyuk. The Patriots were willing to make Aiyuk one of the five highest-paid wide receivers in the league. The Browns also reportedly offered Amari Cooper and multiple draft picks for Aiyuk.
In both situations, Aiyuk axed the deal.

What are the wide receiver’s options as Aiyuk enters the fifth year of his rookie deal?
If nothing happens, Aiyuk can play on the fifth-year option on his rookie deal, which would pay him $14.124 million.
Aiyuk could renegotiate his contract with the 49ers and sign a long-term extension to stay in San Francisco.
Finally, Aiyuk could accept the trade and play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Aiyuk is one of the 49ers’ best offensive players. The second-team All-Pro is coming off his best year as a pro, with 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.
