Cam Ward sets up for a throw.

NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks released his 2025 NFL Mock Draft 1.0. Here are the three biggest takeaways from Brooks’ first projections for the 2025 NFL Draft.

1. Shedeur Sanders To Titans, Cam Ward To Giants

Two of the first three picks will be quarterbacks in Brooks’ 2025 NFL Mock Draft 1.0.

Brooks has the Tennessee Titans selecting Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders at No. 1, and New York Giants taking Miami’s Cam Ward at No. 3.

Sanders and Ward are regarded as the top two quarterbacks in their draft class. Whether Sanders or Ward goes first comes down to preference.

The Titans and Giants are searching for their next franchise quarterback, so taking Sanders or Ward makes sense.

The wild card in this scenario is the Cleveland Browns at No. 2. Brooks has the Browns selecting Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter to pair with Myles Garrett.

With Deshaun Watson out for the majority of the 2025 season with a ruptured Achilles, the Browns need a new quarterback. Do they elect to take Sanders or Ward with the second pick? Perhaps the Browns trade back and accumulate more picks from a team desperate for a quarterback.

2. Dallas Cowboys Select RB Ashton Jeanty

Injuries aside, one of the biggest problems with the Dallas Cowboys in 2024 was their lack of a running game.

The Cowboys ranked 27th in the NFL in rushing yards per game (100.3).

Dallas elected to replace Rico Dowdle with Rico Dowdle and an older Ezekiel Elliott. Dowdle barely crossed 1,000 yards after a slow start, and Elliot was released by the end of the season.

With the No. 12 pick, Brooks has the Cowboys taking Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, the best RB in the field.

Jeanty was a workhorse at Boise State, rushing for over 4,700 yards in three seasons. After a 2024 season of 2,601 yards and 20 touchdowns, Jeanty was the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy.

If the Cowboys draft Jeanty, the Boise product becomes the starter on day one.

3. Five WRs Taken Compared To Seven In 2024

In the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, seven wide receivers were selected, including Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, Rome Odunze, Brian Thomas Jr., Xavier Worthy, Ricky Pearsall, and Xavier Legette.

Brooks predicts five wide receivers will be taken in the first round. The receivers include:

  • No. 4 New England Patriots – Colorado’s Travis Hunter
  • No. 6 Las Vegas Raiders – Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan
  • No. 19 Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka
  • No. 21 Pittsburgh Steelers – Missouri’s Luther Burden III
  • No. 22 Los Angeles Chargers – Texas’ Matthew Golden
