The New York Giants suffered yet another tough blow on Sunday afternoon. Talented and popular rookie running Cam Skattebo was involved in an unfortunate play in which he suffered a gruesome lower leg injury, and his season is now over. On Monday afternoon, he provided an update via social media, and he appears to be in somewhat good spirits despite the diagnosis.
Cam Skattebo Posts Positive Message On Social Media
During the second quarter of the Giants’ eventual loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Skattebo had his right leg pinned under a defender who was making a tackle. The bruising running back appeared to be in immediate distress, and cameras showed his ankle and foot turned in an unnatural position. Players from both teams called for medical assistance, and some had to turn away from the incident completely.
Skattebo was loaded onto a cart and wheeled off of the field, and it was clear that he wouldn’t be playing football for the rest of the season. He was taken to a Philadelphia-area hospital and underwent emergency surgery, which ended up being successful.
On Monday, Cam Skattebo logged on to Twitter/X and shared his thoughts:
Thank you everyone for the support!! Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff that did their best work on me. This is just the beginning of my journey and I can’t wait to show you guys all about it!!! GOD has a plan for me , stick the course and it will all work itself out , BRB  #LFG
Giants Season All But Lost After 2-6 Start
In a season that should have been filled with the optimism surrounding rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, the Giants have another major injury to deal with. In Dart’s first start in Week 4, breakout star wide receiver Malik Nabors was lost for the season when he tore his ACL. There was hope that the duo would spend Dart’s first season building a chemistry that would last for years, but they’ll have to try again in 2026.
Jaxson Dart is the only QB in the Super Bowl era with 8+ pass TD, 4+ rush TD and fewer than 5 giveaways in his first 5 career starts 👀

After the loss to the Eagles on Sunday, the Giants are seeing their season slip away. They are now 2-6 on the year and have lost back to back games, and remain alone in last place in the NFC East. They’ll look to take advantage of an injury-depleted San Francisco 49ers team in Week 9, and they have opened as 2.5-point underdogs for that contest.
