Despite being on a two-game losing streak, the Celtics are 15-11 in 2025-26. Boston is 7-3 in their last 10 games. The Celtics bounced back after a 3-5 start to the year.
In 2025-26, Boston is without PF Jayson Tatum. He tore his Achilles tendon in the 2025 playoffs. This season, several players have stepped up for the Celtics. They are helping to keep the team competitive. Recently, Celtics’ GM Brad Stevens spoke with the media. He said Boston will not limit this roster’s potential. Stevens said the Celtics will be prepared to trade if it “makes sense.”

At this point in the year, the standings in the Eastern Conference are fluid. As of Thursday, December 18, the Celtics are 15-11. That is fourth in the East. However, only one game separates them from the Cleveland Cavaliers at 15-13 in 9th. With the standings so volatile, Celtics GM Brad Stevens is keeping all options on the table. Despite the team not having Jayson Tatum, they are competitive in the East.
On Wednesday, Stevens spoke to the media. He noted that the Celtics’ front office did not want to put a “ceiling” on this group of players. Additionally, Boston is prepared to trade at the deadline if the deal “makes sense.” Brad Stevens emphasized that the team’s ultimate goal is to win a championship. If the Celtics made a trade in the next month, they’d take that into account.
Brad Stevens on the upcoming trade deadline:
“We will not put a ceiling on this group. If it makes sense for us to look for things that can help us, we certainly will. But it all has to be within good deals.” pic.twitter.com/1Vlvanwoj4

With the losses Boston had this offseason, adding talent to the front court is likely a top priority. The Celtics traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Hawks. On top of that, they lost Luke Kornet and Al Horford to free agency. That forced the team to retool their depth at power forward and center. If Boston wanted to make a splash move, they have two tradeable first-round picks and three pick swaps.
Brad Stevens and the Celtics’ front office are confident in the roster they’ve built. They’re not going to trade if the deal doesn’t fit the team’s vision. Jaylen Brown’s 29.3 points per game in 2025-26 is a new career-high. He is leading the way offensively for Boston. Will the Celtics add more talent to the roster via a trade?
