The Los Angeles Clippers played a heartfelt tribute video for reserve guard Chris Paul during Friday night’s home game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The video was released a week after Paul announced the 2025-26 campaign would be his final NBA season.
Chris Paul To Retire After 2025-26 Season
Paul, who turns 41 in May, posted this message last Saturday on social media: “What a ride…Still so much left…GRATEFUL for this last one!!”
In the Clippers’ 112-107 loss to Memphis on Friday night, Paul finished with five points, two rebounds, and one turnover in 15 minutes off the bench.
Meanwhile, Kawhi Leonard led Los Angeles with 39 points in 29 minutes, while James Harden added 23 points. The Clippers haven’t won at Intuit Dome since Oct. 31.

Paul, 40, is a 12-time All-Star, an 11-time All-NBA member, a nine-time All-Defensive teams member, the 2006 Rookie of the Year, and a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
Nicknamed “the Point God,” Paul is the NBA’s active leader in assists (12,546) and steals (2,727) and is second all time in both behind John Stockton, who had 15,806 assists and 3,265 steals.
The North Carolina native has led the league in assists per game five times and in steals per game in six seasons. He also averaged double-digit assists in seven seasons.
Hornets Drafted Chris Paul In 2005
Paul was selected fourth overall by the New Orleans Hornets in the 2005 draft out of Wake Forest and has averaged 16.9 points and 9.2 assists per game over his 21-year career.
According to Basketball Reference, Paul and LeBron James are the only two players in NBA history to record at least 20,000 career points and 10,000 career assists.
Paul spent six years with the Hornets before a famously voided trade to the Los Angeles Lakers landed the star guard with the Clippers. Paul played alongside Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan and helped lead the Lob City era of the iconic Los Angeles squad.
After six years with the Clippers, Paul was traded to the Houston Rockets and teamed up with James Harden.
Following two years in Houston, Paul was traded to Oklahoma City in a deal that sent Thunder star guard Russell Westbrook to the Rockets as part of the fallout from Paul George being traded to the Clippers to join Kawhi Leonard.
Paul Reunited With Clippers During Offseason
Paul’s lone season in Oklahoma City was followed by three seasons with the Phoenix Suns. His time in Phoenix was highlighted by Paul’s only NBA Finals appearance in 2021, a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games.
During the 2023 offseason, the Suns traded Paul to the Washington Wizards, who then dealt the future Hall of Famer to the Golden State Warriors.
The 2023-24 campaign was Paul’s only season spent with the Warriors.
After the season, Paul signed a one-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs to provide veteran leadership for a rebuilding team led by Victor Wembanyama.
Paul reunited with the Clippers in the offseason and has appeared in 14 games off the bench, averaging career lows of 2.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 14.4 minutes per contest.
