Colin Cowherd is leaving Los Angeles for Chicago. The host of The Herd on FS1 announced on his podcast that he will be moving to Chicago in the spring. Cowherd will remain with Fox Sports and broadcast his show, The Herd, from the Windy City.

Colin Cowherd Confirms Move To Chicago

Earlier this week, Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports was close to signing a contract extension to remain at FS1. Cowherd’s contract was set to expire in late February.

Glasspiegel also hinted that Cowherd recently purchased a home in Chicago, hinting at a location change for FS1’s most popular talk show, The Herd

On the latest episode of The Colin Cowherd Podcast for his company, The Volume, Cowherd confirmed Glasspiegel’s report and explained his move to Chicago.

Cowherd said he will split time between Chicago and Fox’s Los Angeles studios during football season. Cowherd estimates that 85% of his time will now be spent in Chicago.

While speaking with FS1’s Nick Wright on the podcast, Cowherd mentioned how his biggest guests, including Tom Brady, are never in the studio. Therefore, he doesn’t need to be in Los Angeles to increase the show’s ratings.

Cowherd also mentioned that being in Chicago puts him closer to the Big Ten Network offices within the city. The Big Ten and Fox have a significant partnership, with the network broadcasting many of the conference’s key games in multiple sports, especially football.

Colin Cowherd Said His Wife Played A Huge Factor In The Move

When contemplating the move from Los Angeles to the Midwest, Cowherd said his wife played a major factor in the decision.

Cowherd’s wife, Ann, has a sister in Chicago, and the couple loves to spend time in the city. After moving from Connecticut to California, Cowherd now wants to put his wife first for his next career move.

“I like where I live, but it lacks that sort of feel for me, and so I love the city,” Cowherd said. “She’s got her sister there, I’ve got a lot of friends there, and I think it’s time to be a better guy and be a better husband.”

Fox Sports has not formally announced Cowherd’s new contract.
