Companion Opening Weekend Box Office Odds: Will It Reach $10 Million?

January is a month known for releasing horror movies, and this weekend marks the arrival of Companion, a new thriller with an AI-powered robot at the center of the story. Will audiences make Companion a winner at the box office? Below are the odds for Companion’s box office projections for the opening weekend.
What Is Companion About?
Companion might come from the studio that released The Notebook, but this is no love story.
Sophie Thatcher stars as Iris, an android acting as a companion robot for Josh (Jack Quaid).
Iris accompanies Josh and his friends for a weekend getaway. However, peace and quiet turn into chaos and confusion as Iris may (or may not have) killed someone.
Quaid told EW that Companion is one of the few movies where audiences will sympathize with a robot. “It’s artificial intelligence gone right,” Quaid said.
Companion is written and directed by Drew Hancock. Companion should be a wild ride from start to finish, especially with the team behind Barbarian — including Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, Zach Cregger, and Roy Lee — attached as producers.
Companion opens on January 31, 2025.
