The Dallas Cowboys were rumored to be buyers for the upcoming NFL trade deadline, with the thought that they’d be looking to bring in a pass rusher. And with just hours left before the deadline itself, it has been reported that Jerry Jones and company have been working the phones on two of the top players available.
Cowboys Have Engaged In Talks For Trey Hendrickson, Bradley Chubb
Since trading Micah Parsons on the eve of the 2025 season, the Cowboys have had a gaping hole in their pass rush. Coming into Week 9, they ranked in the bottom 10 in the NFL in total team sacks with just 15, despite having one of the highest pressure rates in the league. It is a well-known notion that they are in the market for an upgrade, especially given Jones’ affinity for bringing in big-name pieces.
On Monday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz confirmed the reports. He says that the Cowboys have spoken with the Cincinnati Bengals about Trey Hendrickson, as well as the Miami Dolphins about Bradley Chubb. Schultz added that linebacker Logan Wilson has been a part of the discussions with the Bengals.
He added a quote from a source that read the following:
“At least one deal is getting done somewhere.”
Hendrickson, the NFL’s reigning sack leader from last season (17.5), went through a turbulent contract negotiation with the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason. The two sides were unable to reach an agreement, and the team even allowed him to explore trade options, though no deal ultimately materialized.
There is still no new deal in place, and any team trading for Hendrickson would be expected to offer a new contract. Would the Cowboys be willing to fork over the money?
After being traded to Miami in 2022, Chubb is now being made expendable due to the Dolphins’ lack of success. Both he and his running mate Jaelan Phillips were said to be on the block, and Phillips was dealt to Philadelphia on Monday morning. Miami could maximize their profits by shipping off another pass rusher, and Jones and the Cowboys are apparently an interested party.
The trade deadline is set for 4PM on Tuesday afternoon.
